Thoughts after the Golden Globes

For the past couple of months I've had a hard time using the Golden Globes and SAGs as a good precursor for the contest. There were a couple surprises this month like Golden Igloo winner "Gray Daze" failing to score a BP nom. It doesn't really surprise me because I felt it was mainly a Grace vehicle. I continue to be surprised by the support for "Glitz" and I was somewhat shocked that "Oil" got as many noms as it did. I was disappointed to see that "Standardized Text" didn't make the cut in the Musical/Comedy category, I felt that was one of the strongest baits of the month, but people didn't like it because of the casting choices. I was kinda surprised that Alec Baldwin got nommed again for a spot that should've gone to Greg Kinnear. Here are my predictions (and yes I factored my bait into it, it would just be stupid not to):

I understand why you put your own baits in the running, I do it too, but don't you think its a little vain to say that your bait "should win" Best Picture?

Vanity is a quality of someone who craves success and goes to dire lengths to achieve it, even if it means making one sound like a prick. That's what kind of guy I am.

If you need to say that you think your own bait is the best of the month, then that means it wasn't good enough to succeed on its own. It's being insecure.
